  • 1 cup 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Block parmesan grated fresh is preferable.
  • 2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped Fresh is best, but dried can work in a pinch.
  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste; it enhances other flavors.
  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon black pepper Use freshly ground for better flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons olive oil Helps crisp up the crust.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the French bread diagonally into 1-inch thick pieces, keeping the base intact.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper until creamy and well combined.
  4. Spread the garlic-Parmesan mixture generously between each slice of bread and brush the top with olive oil.
  5. Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes until the butter melts and the bread heats through.
  2. Unwrap the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes to achieve a crispy crust.
  3. Remove from the oven, let cool for a couple of minutes, and serve warm.

For variations, consider adding herbs like rosemary or using a different type of cheese.
