Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved Fresh, firm sprouts are best.
  • 6 slices Bacon, chopped Thick-cut bacon is preferred.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil Use high-quality extra virgin olive oil.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Kosher salt is recommended.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper Freshly cracked is best.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder Fresh minced garlic can also be used.
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated Adds umami and richness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) for perfect roasting.
  2. Trim and halve the Brussels sprouts, rinsing them under cold water and removing any loose leaves.
  3. In a mixing bowl, toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until well-coated.
  4. Chop the bacon into small pieces and mix it with the Brussels sprouts.
  5. Spread the mixture on a baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring there’s space between them to prevent steaming.
Cooking
  1. Roast in the oven for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through until golden brown and crispy.
  2. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese before serving. Optionally, broil for 1-2 minutes for a bubbly finish.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or oven to maintain crispiness.
