Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- In a small bowl, blend together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and chopped fresh rosemary.
- Generously rub the seasoning mixture all over the prime rib. Let it marinate for at least an hour at room temperature.
- Place the prime rib in a roasting pan, bone side down, and drizzle with olive oil.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue to roast until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness.
- Once done, let the roast rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing.
- For gravy, use the pan drippings combined with beef broth and simmer until thickened.
