Ingredients

Cookie Ingredients
  • 1 cup brown sugar Use light brown sugar for a subtle sweetness or dark for a richer flavor.
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Ensure your butter is at room temperature for creamy consistency.
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup Opt for pure maple syrup; it really makes a difference in taste.
  • 1 large egg Room temperature eggs incorporate better.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour For a fluffier texture, scoop flour into your measuring cup instead of packing it.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda This gives your cookies that lovely rise.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Helps balance the sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds depth of flavor.
Glaze Ingredients
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Sifted for a smooth finish.
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup Enhances the maple flavor in the glaze.
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk Adjust as needed for desired thickness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures even baking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together brown sugar and softened butter until the mixture is smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the egg and maple syrup until well combined. The mixture should look glossy and well-blended.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just incorporated.
  5. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Glaze Preparation
  1. Whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled cookies and let it set before serving.
