Wet Ingredients
  • 0.75 cups unsalted butter, softened Let come to room temperature.
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar Dark brown is preferred for rich flavor.
  • 1 large egg At room temperature for better mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Use pure vanilla for best flavor.
For Rolling
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar For rolling the cookie dough balls.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  4. In a separate bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the egg and vanilla to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until combined.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture and mix until just combined.
  7. Scoop dough, roll into balls, and then roll in granulated sugar.
Baking
  1. Place the dough balls on prepared baking sheets, spaced 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  3. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
