Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until smooth (about 3-5 minutes).
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Fold in the dried cranberries, orange zest, and walnuts if using.
Baking
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
