Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until smooth (about 3-5 minutes).
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in the dried cranberries, orange zest, and walnuts if using.
Baking
  1. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
