  • 4 slices good quality bread (sourdough or whole grain) Use sturdy bread for the best texture.
  • 2 breasts cooked chicken, shredded Rotisserie chicken saves time.
  • 1 whole ripe avocado, sliced Choose avocados that yield slightly to gentle pressure.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Sharp cheddar is recommended for extra flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons butter, room temperature Helps spread easily.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the shredded chicken, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Spread butter generously on one side of each slice of bread.
  4. Place two slices of bread, butter side down, on a baking sheet.
  5. Divide the chicken mixture evenly on top of the prepared bread slices.
  6. Layer sliced avocado on top of the chicken.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the avocado.
  8. Top each sandwich with the remaining slices of bread, butter side up.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
  3. Cut each sandwich in half, if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

For a perfectly toasted sandwich, consider grilling them in a skillet over medium heat, flipping halfway through.
