Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
- In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until no lumps remain.
- Gradually add dry mixture to the creamed mixture, stirring until just blended.
- Fold in chocolate chips gently with a spatula.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but the center remains slightly soft.
- Let cool on baking sheet for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
These cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or frozen for up to three months. Customize by adding nuts or using different types of chocolate.
