Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat this mixture on medium speed for 2 minutes, creating a smooth, creamy batter.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water; the batter will be thin but ensures moisture through each bite.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and tap them gently on the counter to release any air bubbles.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them onto a wire rack to cool completely.
