Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- Cut the croissants into bite-sized pieces, ideally about 1-inch cubes. Place half of them in the prepared dish and sprinkle half of the chocolate chips over them.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Pour half of this mixture over the croissant pieces.
- Add the remaining croissant pieces and sprinkle the rest of the chocolate chips on top. Pour the remaining egg mixture over everything, gently pressing down.
- Allow the bake to sit for about 15 minutes to soak up the custard.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
- Let it cool for about 5 minutes before serving warm, dusted with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the microwave or oven.
