Ingredients

Oranges and Syrup
  • 6 medium-sized organic oranges Choose organic to savor the pure flavor without chemicals.
  • 1 2/3 cups water Omit any impurities in your syrup for a clearer taste.
  • 3 cups granulated sugar You can also use coconut sugar for a deeper flavor.
Spices
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
  • 1 pod star anise For warming aromas—adjust based on personal taste preferences.
Chocolate
  • to taste your preferred chocolate Ghirardelli dark chocolate is recommended for a rich taste.

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash and slice the oranges into rounds about 0.3 inches wide.
  2. Boil the orange slices in water for 5-10 minutes to avoid bitterness in the peel (optional).
Candying Process
  1. In a large pot, combine the sugar, spices, and approximately 1 2/3 cups of water. Heat until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  2. Add the orange slices to the syrup and simmer gently for about 1.5 hours, turning them occasionally.
  3. Gently drain the water and place the oranges on paper towels to remove excess syrup.
Finishing Touches
  1. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet and bake at 212°F (100°C) for 15 minutes. Flip the orange slices and return them to the oven for another 15 minutes.
  2. Let the oranges cool completely before dipping them in melted chocolate.
  3. Arrange your Chocolate-Dipped Candied Oranges elegantly on a plate and serve!

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For make-ahead options, prepare the orange slices ahead and dip them in chocolate the day you plan to serve.
