Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 cups Eggnog (homemade or store-bought) Homemade eggnog can elevate flavors, but a quality store-bought version saves time!
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips Go for brands like Ghirardelli or Guittard for a rich melt.
  • 1/2 cup Spiced Rum (optional) For a non-alcoholic version, add vanilla extract instead.
Garnishes
  • to taste Whipped Cream Freshly whipped cream is a game-changer!
  • to taste Chocolate Shavings Enhance the presentation with some dark chocolate shavings.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, pour in the eggnog and heat over medium heat. Stir occasionally until it reaches a gentle simmer, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately add the chocolate chips. Whisk continuously until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth, about 2 minutes.
  3. If you're using spiced rum, stir it in until well combined.
  4. Pour the mixture into a heatproof bowl or pitcher. You can serve it immediately for a warm treat, or cover and refrigerate for about 1 hour until chilled.
  5. Pour into mugs, and adorn with a generous dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings to elevate your festive presentation!

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For a dairy-free option, use almond or oat milk to create your eggnog base and dark chocolate chips as needed.
