Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Gradually add the flour, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  4. Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly into a greased baking pan (9x13 inches).
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Allow to cool for at least 10-15 minutes before cutting into bars.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for about a week or freeze for a month. Customize by adding nuts or festive candies.
