Preparation

Cooking
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together, stirring until fully combined and bubbling (about 3-4 minutes).
- Carefully pour the melted mixture over the saltine crackers, spreading evenly with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top, allowing them to soften for a minute.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee layer using a spatula.
- If desired, add optional toppings such as chopped nuts or crushed candy canes before the chocolate sets.
Cooling
- Allow the Christmas Crack to cool completely at room temperature for at least 30 minutes, then break into pieces.
