Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). It’s essential to start with a hot oven to ensure even baking.
- In a bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. This will be your dry mixture.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
- Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture until just combined.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and then roll each ball in sanding sugar.
- Place the cookies on ungreased baking sheets and flatten slightly. Leave about 2 inches between each cookie.
Baking
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden around the edges.
- Let cool on wire racks to set properly.
