Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan generously with butter or cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually pour the wet mixture into your dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
- Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan, and give it a gentle tap to remove any air bubbles.
- In a small bowl, mix the remaining 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon. Drizzle the top of your batter with 2 tablespoons of melted butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top.
Baking
- Place your loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
- Once baked, cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Storage
- Keep your bread in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or in the fridge for 5 days. To freeze, wrap it tightly and store it for up to 3 months.
Notes
Use high-quality vanilla extract and fresh spices for the best results. You can also customize by adding chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruit.
