Ingredients

For the donut base
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Use a high-quality brand for the best texture.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar Sweetness is key; using organic sugar can enhance the flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder Fresh baking powder ensures the donuts rise beautifully.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Balances the sweetness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon Freshly ground cinnamon elevates the flavor.
  • 1/2 cup milk Whole milk is recommended; almond milk is a substitute.
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted Use unsalted butter for better control over salt content.
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature eggs incorporate better into the batter.
For the cinnamon sugar coating
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Cane sugar can be used for a crisper coating.
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon As always, fresh is best!

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a donut pan with cooking spray or butter.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, 1/4 cup of sugar, baking powder, salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, and eggs until smooth.
Mixing
  1. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring gently until just mixed.
  2. Transfer the dough into a piping bag or a large zip-lock bag and pipe into the donut pan, filling each cavity halfway.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the tops are golden brown, and a toothpick comes out clean.
Coating
  1. In a separate bowl, mix 1/2 cup of sugar with 1 tablespoon of cinnamon.
  2. Once the donuts are baked, let them cool slightly, then toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while still warm.
Serving
  1. Enjoy your fluffy, sweet Cinnamon Sugar Twist Donuts! Allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For even baking, rotate the donut pan halfway through the cooking time. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature or freeze for up to 3 months.
