Ingredients

Chicken Marinade

  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce Kikkoman's Teriyaki Sauce is recommended for rich flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Divided; use toasted sesame oil for enhanced taste.
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
Slaw Filling
  • 2 cups coleslaw mix (cabbage and carrots) Consider using your own shredded cabbage and carrots for freshness.
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon honey Use local honey for a touch of sweetness.
Wonton Shells
  • 12 pieces wonton wrappers Look for the freshest wonton wrappers in the refrigerated section.
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro, for freshness

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced chicken breast with teriyaki sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. Allow to marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the coleslaw mix, green onions, rice vinegar, and honey. Set aside.
Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the marinated chicken for 5-7 minutes until cooked through and browned.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat oil for shallow frying. Fry wonton wrappers for 20-30 seconds per side until golden brown and crispy.
Assembly
  1. Fill each crispy wonton shell with cooked chicken and slaw. Drizzle with sweet chili sauce, then garnish with sesame seeds and cilantro.

Notes

Ensure wontons are fresh and fried just before serving for optimal crunch. Store leftovers separately to maintain crispiness.
