Ingredients

Protein and Seasoning
  • 1 lb ground beef or substitute with ground turkey for a leaner option
  • 1 packet taco seasoning Old El Paso is recommended for vibrant flavor
Vegetables
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes use ripe, juicy ones for the best flavor
  • 1 cup canned black beans drained and rinsed
Toppings
  • 1 cup shredded cheese sharp cheddar or Mexican blend recommended
  • 2 cups Doritos Nacho Cheese flavor is classic, but feel free to experiment
  • 1 cup salsa choose your favorite for a kick!
  • 1/2 cup sour cream can use Greek yogurt as a healthier alternative

Method

Cook the Beef
  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Crumble it well with a spatula for even cooking.
  2. Add the taco seasoning according to package instructions, mixing it in with a bit of water. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until fully infused with flavor.
Prep the Veggies
  1. While the beef is cooking, chop the lettuce, tomatoes, and rinse the black beans.
Assemble the Salad
  1. In a large serving bowl, layer the shredded lettuce at the base.
  2. Add the diced tomatoes, black beans, cooked beef, and cheese, spreading them evenly.
Add the Crunch
  1. Right before serving, top with the crushed Doritos for that unbeatable crunch.
Dress It Up
  1. Serve with a hearty spoonful of salsa and a dollop of sour cream on top. You can mix it all together or serve on the side for everyone to add as they please.

Notes

To avoid sogginess, mix the dressing in just before serving. Store leftovers separately to keep the Doritos crunchy.
