Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture. Gradually stir in your dry ingredients until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Gently fold in your mixed dried fruit and knead until it’s evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm space for about 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while your dough is rising.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover the shaped loaf with the towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let your bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Keep your bread wrapped tightly in plastic wrap or an airtight container. It will last at room temperature for 2-3 days. You can also freeze it for 2-3 months.
