  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices Feel free to swap this out with turkey pepperoni or even cooked sausage!
  • 1/4 cup chopped bell peppers Red, yellow, or green—experiment with colors!
  • 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms Use fresh mushrooms for the best texture.
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives Olives add a nice briny flavor; use green if preferred!
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano Using fresh oregano if available is preferred!
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Fresh minced garlic can be used for a bolder taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional, for those who like a little kick!

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the French bread loaf in half lengthwise.
  3. Lay the bread halves on a baking sheet with the cut side facing up.
  4. Spread marinara sauce evenly over each bread half.
  5. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the marinara sauce.
  6. Distribute pepperoni slices, bell peppers, mushrooms, and black olives over the cheese.
  7. Sprinkle oregano, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes over the toppings.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing into portions.

Notes

To avoid sogginess, ensure that your marinara sauce isn’t overly watery. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
