Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9-inch round cake pan by greasing it with butter and lightly dusting it with flour.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Add the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, using a spatula to smooth the top.
- Place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, serve plain or sprinkle with powdered sugar for an elegant finish.
Notes
