Preparation
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mix Your Filling: In a large bowl, combine the fruit, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Mix well until the fruit is evenly coated. Let this sit for about 10-15 minutes.
- Prepare the Crust: Pour the fruit mixture into the pie crust. Dot with small bits of butter atop the filling.
- Cover it Up: If using a second pie crust, carefully lay it on top and seal the edges. For a lattice top, cut the dough into strips and weave them over the filling.
Baking
- Bake to Perfection: Place your pie in the preheated oven and bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Cool Before Serving: Once baked, allow it to cool for at least 15 minutes.
Notes
Use a pie shield or aluminum foil to protect the crust from excessive browning. Brush the crust with an egg wash for a glossy finish. For extra flavor, try adding nutmeg or ginger.
