Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Lay one puff pastry sheet on a clean surface, then layer the cheese slices followed by the ham slices. Place the second sheet of pastry on top and press down lightly to adhere.
- With a sharp knife, slice the layered pastry into 1-inch wide strips.
- Take each strip and fold it back and forth onto a skewer to resemble a tree shape, pinching the base to secure the layers while shaping them.
- In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Brush this mixture over each tree for added flavor and a golden finish.
Baking
- Place the skewers on the lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown.
- Cool slightly and serve. These trees are best enjoyed warm, but they hold up well at room temperature.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature or up to a week in the fridge. These trees can be made ahead by prepping them and baking right before serving. For a gluten-free option, substitute with gluten-free puff pastry.
