  • 1 pound kielbasa sausage, sliced Look for brands that have no added nitrates or are minimally processed for a healthier option.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Extra virgin olive oil gives a richer flavor.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic is best; avoid pre-minced for optimal taste.
  • 3 tablespoons honey Local honey provides a nice depth of flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Low-sodium soy sauce balances flavor without over-salting.
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced Yellow onions caramelize nicely, adding sweetness.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh or frozen works; just thaw frozen broccoli before use.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic until smooth.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced kielbasa to the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side until lightly browned.
  4. Add the sliced bell peppers, onion, and broccoli florets to the skillet. Cook for another 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Pour the honey garlic mixture over the kielbasa and vegetables, stirring gently to coat everything evenly. Allow it to simmer for about 2 minutes.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, and serve hot.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently. Prepare the sauce ahead of time and store it separately in the refrigerator for up to a week.
