Ingredients

Brownie Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Choose high-quality cocoa for intense flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Consider organic cane sugar for refined taste.
  • 2 large eggs Use room temperature for proper blending.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Opt for unbleached flour for a healthier choice.
  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter Using unsalted allows control over saltiness.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Always use pure vanilla extract for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional) Use dark, semi-sweet, or white chocolate chips.
Cheesecake Layer Ingredients
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Full-fat cream cheese for rich texture.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Sweetens your cheesecake layer.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and granulated sugar until combined, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Sift in cocoa powder and flour, stir until just combined.
Cheesecake Layer
  1. In another bowl, beat cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
Assembly
  1. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, dollop the cheesecake mixture on top, and swirl with a knife.
  2. Spread the remaining brownie batter over the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Check doneness with a toothpick - it should come out slightly moist but not wet.
  2. Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.

Notes

For best results, bring cream cheese and eggs to room temperature before starting. These brownies can be made ahead and frozen for later enjoyment.
