Ingredients

For the Stromboli
  • 1 pound pizza dough Store-bought or homemade; at room temperature for easy rolling.
  • 1/4 cup marinara sauce A quality brand like Rao’s or homemade adds depth.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Opt for whole-milk mozzarella for the creamiest texture.
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni Choose a good-quality brand for the best flavor.
  • 1/4 cup sliced salami
  • 1/4 cup sliced ham
  • 1/4 cup sliced bell peppers Any color adds vibrancy.
  • 1/4 cup sliced onions Red onions bring a sweet touch.
  • 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms Fresh is key; don’t use canned!
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives Adds a briny touch.
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano For that Italian flair.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes Adjust based on your spice tolerance.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out your pizza dough into a large rectangle—about 12x16 inches and a thickness of about 1/4 inch.
  3. Spread marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border (about 1 inch) around the edges.
  4. Generously sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  5. Layer pepperoni, salami, ham, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and black olives evenly on top of the cheese.
  6. Sprinkle with oregano, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes.
  7. Starting from one of the long sides, carefully roll the Stromboli up tightly.
  8. Place the Stromboli seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Brush the top with olive oil and sprinkle additional oregano for garnish.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted.
  2. Allow the Stromboli to cool slightly before slicing.
  3. Serve warm with additional marinara for dipping.

Notes

Using fresh ingredients will elevate the taste. You can substitute any of the meats with turkey or chicken for a leaner option. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
