Brownie Batter

  • 1 cup 1 cup cocoa powder Use high-quality Dutch-process cocoa.
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Pure vanilla adds depth.
  • 1 cup 1 cup chopped pecans Can substitute with walnuts or omit.
  • 1/2 teaspoon 1/2 teaspoon salt Balances sweetness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a medium bowl, then mix in the sugar until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Stir in the chopped pecans.
  8. Pour the brownie batter into the pie crust and spread it evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the center is just set but slightly soft.
  2. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, toast pecans before chopping. Serve warm with ice cream, or cold with coffee. You can make this pie a day in advance.
