Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef Look for 80/20 for that perfect balance of flavor and moisture.
  • 1/2 pound ground pork This brings in extra depth of flavor; Italian sausage is also an option for added kick.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs I recommend using plain or Italian-style. Fresh breadcrumbs work wonders if you have some bread lying around.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Freshly grated will taste divine, but bottled works too.
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley Fresh herbs elevate the dish, but dried parsley can be used in a pinch.
  • 1 pcs egg Acts as a binder; ensure it’s at room temperature!
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced A must for aromatic essence.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Store-bought or homemade; really brings the flavor together.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Don’t be shy; season well!
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Use your favorite jarred sauce or whip up a quick homemade version!

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This is crucial; the meatballs need immediate heat to cook evenly.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for optimal blending.
  3. Mix until well combined, being careful not to overmix to avoid tough meatballs.
  4. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter to ensure even cooking.
  5. Place the meatballs on a lined baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through, achieving a golden-brown color.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the marinara sauce over medium heat to enhance its rich flavor.
  2. Add the baked meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 10 minutes to soak up the flavors.

Notes

Store cooked meatballs in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, thaw overnight and bake at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through. Adjust cooking times based on the size of your meatballs.
