Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until thoroughly combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, stirring just until blended.
- Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on ungreased cookie sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
- Flatten each dough ball to about 1/4 inch thick using the bottom of a glass or your palm.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove cookies and let cool on the baking sheets for a minute before transferring to wire racks to finish cooling completely.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months. Chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes can enhance flavor.
