- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan with butter or parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and sugar until smooth and creamy (about 1-2 minutes).
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the mixture and mix well until fully incorporated.
- Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined—avoid overmixing.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips if desired.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick; it should come out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 10-15 minutes before cutting into squares.
Notes
For extra fudgy brownies, remove them from the oven a minute or two early. Allow to cool completely for ideal texture.
