Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup sugar Granulated sugar; brown sugar can be used for extra flavor.
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted Use unsalted butter at room temperature.
  • 2 large eggs Ensure they are at room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Opt for pure vanilla extract for the best flavor.
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder Use high-quality, unsweetened cocoa powder.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Consider using a gluten-free blend if needed.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances the sweetness;
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder Helps give the brownies perfect rise.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional) Semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips for extra flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan with butter or parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and sugar until smooth and creamy (about 1-2 minutes).
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the mixture and mix well until fully incorporated.
  4. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined—avoid overmixing.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips if desired.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick; it should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 10-15 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

For extra fudgy brownies, remove them from the oven a minute or two early. Allow to cool completely for ideal texture.
