Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, prepare the brownie mix according to package instructions, adding the egg, water, and vegetable oil until just combined. Don't overmix!
- Pour half of the brownie batter into a greased 9x9 inch baking pan, spreading it evenly.
- Gently spread the cookie dough over the brownie layer.
- Carefully pour the remaining brownie batter on top of the cookie dough layer.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
Baking
- Place the pan in the oven, baking for about 30-35 minutes.
- When a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs, it's done.
- Allow to cool for at least 10-15 minutes before cutting into squares.
Notes
Ensure cookie dough is at room temperature for easy spreading. Underbaking is okay; brownies will continue cooking after removal from the oven. Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the fridge for 1 week.
