Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries Look for bright, firm berries, avoiding any with blemishes.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Ensure to use high-quality sugar for the best results.
  • 1 cup water Purified or filtered water is ideal for a cleaner taste.
  • extra cup sugar for coating You can use regular granulated sugar or sparkling sugar for a trendy twist.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely; this usually takes about 3-5 minutes. Chef's Tip: Keep an eye on it, as it can boil over if left unattended!
  2. Once dissolved, add the fresh cranberries to the sugar syrup. Allow them to boil for 1-2 minutes until they start to pop. Visual Cue: You’ll see them start to burst, which is a great sign you’re on the right track!
  3. Immediately remove from heat and let the cranberries sit in the syrup for several hours or overnight.
  4. After soaking, drain the cranberries but don’t rinse them! Roll them in an additional 1/2 cup of granulated sugar until they’re fully coated.
  5. Allow them to dry on a wire rack for about 30 minutes before using them as a stunning garnish on desserts or cocktails. Chef's Tip: For extra sparkle, dust with a little more sugar before serving!

Notes

Store your sugared cranberries in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. They can be kept at room temperature for a few days but refrigerate them for longer shelf life!
