Ingredients

For the Dressing
  • 2.25 cups mayonnaise For a healthier alternative, use Greek yogurt or a light mayo.
  • 1 cups buttermilk Mix 1 tablespoon of white vinegar with milk to make 1 cup if buttermilk is not available.
  • 2 tbsp sugar Adjust based on your sweetness preference.
  • 1.5 tsp celery seed Adds a subtle crunch and earthy flavor.
  • 0.75 tsp black pepper For an extra kick.
  • 0.25 tsp salt Enhances all the flavors.
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar For necessary tang.
For the Slaw
  • 32 oz coleslaw mix A mix of shredded cabbage and carrots; opt for organic if possible.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, buttermilk, sugar, apple cider vinegar, celery seed, black pepper, and salt.
  2. Whisk until you achieve a smooth, creamy texture. Ensure the sugar dissolves fully to avoid any graininess.
  3. Slowly add in the coleslaw mix and gently toss with a spatula, ensuring that the cabbage and carrots are coated in the dressing.
  4. Transfer the dressed coleslaw to a serving bowl or covered storage container.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight) before serving.
Serving
  1. Once chilled, serve alongside your favorite grilled meats or as a light lunch.
